Oecta Collective Agreement 2020

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers` Association (OECTA) recently renegotiated its collective agreement for the year 2020. This agreement sets out the terms and conditions of employment for Catholic school teachers in Ontario.

One significant change in the new agreement is an increase in salary. OECTA negotiated a 1.5% salary increase for teachers, which will be retroactive to September 1, 2019. This increase is in addition to the 1% increase that was already scheduled for September 1, 2020.

Another crucial element of the new agreement is a change to the long-term disability plan. OECTA has negotiated a new plan that will provide more comprehensive and inclusive coverage to its members. This new plan will cover up to 85% of a member`s salary if they become disabled and cannot work.

The new agreement also includes an increase in funding for professional development. OECTA has negotiated an increase in the amount of money available for teachers to pursue additional education and training. This funding will be used to help teachers develop new skills and stay up-to-date with the latest teaching practices.

Health and wellness are also a priority in the new agreement. OECTA has negotiated an increase in the funding available for mental health services for its members. Teachers will also have access to more resources to help them manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Overall, the new OECTA collective agreement for 2020 is a positive step forward for Catholic school teachers in Ontario. With increased salary, better disability coverage, and more funding for professional development and mental health services, OECTA is helping to ensure that its members have the resources they need to provide the best possible education to their students.
